About the Role
We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead and scale our Vertical engineering teams. You will drive technical excellence, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that empower credit unions and their members. This strategic role requires deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and proven leadership capabilities.
About the Team
Engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining our cutting-edge lending and account opening products. Your challenge will be to lead the teams responsible for Verticals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that empower credit unions to better serve their members. As a Director of Software Engineering, you will oversee multiple engineering teams dedicated to a specific products, drive technical excellence, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Within 3 months, you will:
Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct reports, peers, and stakeholders to gather context, build relationships, and establish trust.
Perform a comprehensive assessment of the engineering organization to identify strengths, weaknesses, and bottlenecks.
Identify and execute quick-win improvements to demonstrate immediate impact.
Within 6 months, you will:
Establish clear engineering practices and standards, focusing on quality, scalability, and reliability.
Define and communicate a clear technical roadmap aligned with strategic business goals.
Address team structure, skill gaps, and operational inefficiencies, implementing targeted hiring and development initiatives.
Within 9 months, you will:
Institutionalize processes for continuous improvement in architecture, operational health, and team effectiveness.
Invest in developing future engineering leaders through structured career growth plans.
Demonstrate tangible improvements in system performance, business impact, and team health, contributing actively to strategic company discussions.
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, preferably in a SaaS or fintech environment.
Strong technical background with expertise in software development, architecture, and cloud technologies.
Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
Experience with agile development methodologies and practices.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
A passion for innovation and staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
