About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Staff Portal Lending team, you will design, build, and maintain scalable systems that deliver a first-class experience for both Credit Union members and staff, ultimately driving the growth in loan applications.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our Product and Design teams, as well as collaborate with external partners, giving you the chance to strengthen skills beyond engineering, such as communication, product thinking, and negotiation.

Unlike traditional banks, CUs prioritize the financial well-being of their members, offering tailored services and fostering strong community ties.

Our Staff Portal Lending team is dedicated to enhancing the digital tools that empower Credit Union staff to deliver this personalized service efficiently. The Staff Portal is a modern, web-based application designed to streamline in-branch lending processes, enabling staff to assist members with loan applications and account services seamlessly.

We are a collaborative team of full-stack engineers who value deep product knowledge and cross-functional teamwork. By working closely with Product, Design, and our Credit Union partners, we ensure that our solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with the unique needs of each community we serve.

What You’ll Do

Within 3 months, you will:

• Be fully onboarded to your new team, familiarizing yourself with Clutch’s tools, processes, and culture.

• Build strong relationships with your team members, leader, and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Work in collaboration with developers and other stakeholders to enhance our platform.

Within 6 months, you will:

• Ensure high-quality code and enable the efficient delivery of features and improvements.

• Write elegant, efficient, and testable code that is easy to maintain and debug.

• Take care of the configurations and processes documentation so stakeholders understand how to use the platform.

Within 9 months, you will:

• As a true teammate, continuously improve the team’s processes, brainstorm ideas, and communicate statuses and progress.

• Deliver a lot of new features to our products.

• Start identifying opportunities to deliver faster, reliable solutions and make initial contributions to architectural improvements.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to write clean, maintainable code.

• Proficiency across both frontend and backend. Our stack includes: TypeScript, React, Next.js, NestJS, Python, AWS.

• Experience writing unit, integration and e2e tests - we don't rely on external QA validation.

• A proactive mindset and the ability to organize your own work without explicit instructions.

• A strong product mindset and the ability to clearly connect code to business outcomes.

• Ability to work cross-functionally, communicate effectively, and deliver solutions with measurable impact.

• Excellent English communication skills.
