Job Description

Insurance Product Operations Manager

Counterpart is an insurtech platform reimagining management and professional liability for the modern workplace. We believe that when businesses lead with clarity and confidence, they become more resilient, more innovative, and better prepared for what’s ahead. That’s why we built the first Agentic Insurance™ system — where advanced AI and deep insurance expertise come together to proactively assess, mitigate, and manage risk. Backed by A rated carriers and trusted by brokers nationwide, our platform helps small businesses grow with confidence. Join us in shaping a smarter future, helping businesses Do More With Less Risk®.

You will be responsible for driving execution and governance across all product lifecycle touchpoints - from new product and program launches and go-to-market coordination, state expansions, ongoing product enhancements, maintenance, and expansion of our digital distribution channel. This role will serve as the connective tissue between insurance product, technical product, underwriting, operational enablement, and regulatory readiness.

This role requires someone who can translate across functions, is incredibly detail-oriented and can build scalable, repeatable processes. We are looking for a proactive individual who takes ownership over initiatives and drives execution with limited oversight while remaining adaptable and resourceful.  The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the entire insurance product lifecycle, change controls, and release coordination, paired with strong project management discipline and a systems-thinking mindset.

 YOU WILL:

  • Lead Product Execution & Change Control
    • Shape the future of the company by collaborating cross-functionally to create and execute a holistic insurance product design and delivery flywheel
    • Own the end-to-end operational delivery of new insurance product launches and updates across lines, states, and carriers.
    • Manage the product change control process including versioning of forms, rates, rules, and underwriting guidelines.
    • Maintain a transparent product roadmap/release calendar; track key dependencies and milestones across internal teams.

  • Drive Cross-Functional Enablement & Operational Readiness
    • Partner with Technology, Product, and Underwriting teams to ensure changes are implemented accurately in policy admin, rating, and CRM systems.
    • Act as the operational liaison with Technical Product, Engineering, and Data teams during platform changes or new workflow development tied to product expansion.
    • Develop comprehensive end-to-end systems testing plans for any new products, product enhancements, updates to forms, rules, or workflows.
    • Support the creation and delivery of just-in-time training for Risk Engineers and Brokers in collaboration with Marketing and Sales Operations

  • Improve Tools, Processes, & Operational Efficiency
    • Identify and implement enhancements to documentation, intake workflows, and audit frameworks to improve quality and reduce turnaround time.
    • Proactively manage bottlenecks and help scale operational processes to support new product volume and complexity.
    • Maintain high documentation hygiene and build repeatable playbooks for future product rollouts.

YOU HAVE

  • 7+ years in complex project management leadership, insurance operations, product development and/or implementation
  • Exceptional project management, documentation, attention to detail, and cross-functional coordination skills with the ability to lead multiple workstreams at once
  • Highly organized, process-oriented, and comfortable working in a startup environment with lean resources
  • Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change across underwriting, product, engineering, and data functions.
  • A self-starter mindset: Comfortable with rolling up your sleeves to meet aggressive growth goals and continuously iterate on product offerings.
  • Experience with and understanding of insurance policies and forms, rate/rule changes, and filing execution (including familiarity with SERFF, ISO/NCCI bureau filings, and admitted/non-admitted product structures) a plus

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:

  • Tanner Hackett, CEO & Founder: Having founded two other major startups, including Button and Lazada, Tanner now spends his time focused on mental health through his philanthropy, Openminded.org, in addition to reading, surfing, yoga, and enjoying the outdoors.

COUNTERPART'S VALUES

  • Conjoin Expectations - it is the cornerstone of autonomy. Ensure you are aware of what is expected of you and clearly articulate what you expect of others.
  • Speak Boldly & Honestly - the only failure is not learning from mistakes. Don’t cheat yourself and your colleagues of the feedback needed when  expectations aren’t being met.
  • Be Entrepreneurial - control your own destiny.  Embrace action over perfection while navigating any obstacles that stand in the way of your ultimate goal.
  • Practice Omotenashi (“selfless hospitality”) - trust will follow.  Consider every interaction with internal and external partners an opportunity to develop trust by going above and beyond what is expected.
  • Hold Nothing As Sacred - create routines but modify them routinely.  Take the time to reflect on where the business is today, where it needs to  go, and what you have to change in order to get there.
  • Prioritize Wellness - some things should never be sacrificed. We create an environment that stretches everyone to grow and improve, which is fulfilling, but is only one part of a meaningful life.

We are committed to being a welcoming and inclusive workplace for everyone, and we are intentional about making sure people feel respected, supported and connected at work—regardless of who you are or where you come from.
