Job Description

Kindred is a members-only home swapping network that unlocks the ability to live a travel-rich lifestyle through the power of community. By exchanging primary residences with trusted peers, renters and owners alike can match with Kindred spirits and explore new destinations without breaking the bank.

We are on a mission to build a sharing economy that lives up to the name, and we’ve raised significant capital from some of the best investors in Silicon Valley, including Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, New Enterprise Associates, Bessemer Venture Partners, Caffeinated Capital, Elad Gil, and the founders of Opendoor, Figma, ClassPass, Clubhouse, Divvy, Gem, and Homebound.

The co-founders are proven leaders from the early team at proptech company Opendoor ($15B+ exit) and have each separately built and scaled products that today do $1B+ annual revenue combined.

We’re looking for the world’s top builders, executors, and believers to join us on this ride.

You can learn more about us in Forbes and TechCrunch.

The Role

We’re looking for a dynamic and soulful Community Events Manager to bring the Kindred spirit to life through unforgettable in-person and virtual gatherings around the world.

In this role, you’ll lead the end-to-end execution of our global events strategy — from cozy member dinners and fireside chats to flagship gatherings and digital onboarding rituals. Each experience you craft will deepen connection, spark trust, and amplify the magic of the Kindred brand and community.

You’re not just hosting events — you’re weaving belonging into the fabric of our movement. You’ll help bring our community to life in both the physical and digital realms, while laying the foundation for a world-class community events team that drives growth through intentional connection.

This role reports to the Community Activation Lead on the Marketing team and is remote, with a strong preference for candidates based in New York City.

Outcomes

Within your first 3 months, you’ll have launched a global events calendar, produced several high-impact gatherings with strong member satisfaction, and built trusted relationships with internal teams and local members. By 6 months, you’ll have activated key communities with recurring events in our core cities, created a scalable playbook tailored to different event types, and helped weave event storytelling into our social channels. By the end of your first year, you’ll have grown the reach and resonance of Kindred-hosted and member-led events, brought on core local support to scale gatherings, and solidified Kindred’s reputation as a leader in soulful, community-driven gatherings that foster deep belonging around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Execute Global Community Events Strategy: Develop a scalable event model across cities — blending member-hosted dinners, interest-based gatherings, digital experiences, and flagship community events.

  • Produce Community-Driven Events: Own all logistics for Kindred-hosted events — venue sourcing, run-of-show planning, vendor coordination, member onboarding, and guest experience.

  • Activate Local Communities: Collaborate with Ambassadors, members, and local creatives to co-create events that feel rooted in each city's culture and community.

  • Capture & Amplify the Magic: Coordinate with our brand and content teams to ensure events are captured, shared, and celebrated across Kindred’s channels and press.

  • Measure & Optimize: Track KPIs (attendance, member satisfaction, growth) to evaluate impact and evolve our global events playbook.

Qualifications

  • A natural host who finds joy in bringing people together and making them feel truly seen.

  • Deeply committed to community building and cultivating spaces of genuine connection.

  • A producer at heart — detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and adept at managing complex logistics with grace.

  • A strong project manager who can juggle competing priorities, align stakeholders, and drive initiatives from ideation to execution.

  • A global thinker with a strong intuition for local nuance and cultural context.

  • A creative soul who cares deeply about storytelling, aesthetics, and purpose-driven experiences.

  • Deeply attuned to the energy of spaces and obsessed with the vibe — you’re intentional about crafting environments that feel conscious, warm, and magnetic.

  • Experienced in scaling community or brand events across multiple cities (ideally 5+ years in community building, experiential marketing, or event production).

  • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with brand, social, press, partnerships, and product teams.

  • Energized by travel and excited to connect with Kindred members across the globe.

  • Systems-minded — skilled at building and refining playbooks, processes, and infrastructure to scale global events with consistency and care.

  • Resourceful and scrappy — able to create beauty and impact even on a modest budget.

  • Passionate about Kindred’s mission to build a more connected, generous, and kind world — through the simple, powerful act of sharing homes.

Bonus Points

  • Proven track record of building and scaling events teams across multiple geographies.

  • Familiarity with community-first, decentralized, and member-led gathering models.

  • Strong relationships within global creative communities — spanning music, art, wellness, food, and more — along with trusted connections to local event producers in key cities.

  • Skilled at forging strategic local partnerships — with aligned brands, artists, collectives, and cultural institutions — to deepen Kindred’s cultural presence and relevance in key markets.

  • Proficiency in Asana (or similar project management tools) to streamline planning, communication, and execution.

Our Benefits:

At Kindred, we know that good things happen when we look out for one another. We offer our employees the following benefits:

  • Our opening spans more than one career level. The base salary offered depends on many factors, such as work experience, transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.

  • A vibrant, inclusive, and highly skilled team that ferociously protects team chemistry

  • A culture of championship (vs. just mentorship), feedback, and continual development

  • Competitive cash compensation and equity

  • Comprehensive health benefits

  • Flexible vacation policy

  • Unlimited credits to stay at Kindred homes during your time as an employee

  • $4,000 annual travel stipend to use toward travel costs to stay at a Kindred home

  • Remote-flexible work environment. We encourage team members to travel and adventure, including working from Kindred HQ in San Francisco!

  • Regular offsites to co-locate with the team

We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all applicants and employees. Kindred does not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic, including race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, creed, age, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, medical condition, genetic information, family care or medical leave status, marital status, domestic partner status, military and veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by US federal, state or local laws, or the laws of the country or jurisdiction where you work.
