Job Description

About LiveKit

LiveKit is building the infrastructure layer for the voice-driven era of computing. Our platform gives developers everything they need to build, test, deploy, scale, and observe agents in production. Founded in 2021, LiveKit powers voice AI applications for OpenAI, xAI, Salesforce, Coursera, Spotify, and thousands of others, collectively facilitating billions of calls each year.

About You

Most developer advocacy is a mile wide and an inch deep. Conference talks. LinkedIn carousels. Tutorial repos that haven't been updated in two years. That's not what we need.

LiveKit is infrastructure. Real-time media, WebRTC, voice AI agents — the stuff developers reach for when they're building something that actually has to work at scale. That means our content has to go deep. We need a developer advocate who can build a working voice AI demo from scratch, articulate every design decision in the README, and then explain the whole thing on camera in a way that makes a developer say "I finally get it."

If you're someone who genuinely likes building things and teaching others how they work — not because it's your job, but because you're the person who's always been curious about how stuff works under the hood — this is your role.

You'll thrive as a Staff Developer Advocate – Content if you:

  • are obsessed with making the best developer experience for your readers and viewers

  • are known as the go-to person for tackling tough technical explanations

  • work hard and can build and ship demos fast

  • are focused on polish, depth, and quality over volume

  • are a fast learner, frequently picking up new languages, tools, and frameworks

The best way to impress us is with thoughtful ways you'd implement LiveKit, and potentially tinkering with it 😊

What You'll Do

  • Own a steady cadence of technical content: tutorials, blog posts, demo apps, video walkthroughs, and code examples — all built for developers who want the real story, not the pitch

  • Build and maintain working demos in the LiveKit Examples repo that developers actually use

  • Be an active, authentic presence in developer communities — Discord, Reddit, GitHub, Stack Overflow, X — answering questions, unblocking developers, and genuinely engaging

  • Represent LiveKit at conferences and meetups as needed, and contribute to the team’s virtual event presence (livestreams, webinars, live coding sessions)

  • Work closely with the DevRel and Marketing teams to distribute and amplify content to the right audiences

  • Surface what you're hearing from the community — product feedback, confusion points, common questions — and bring it back to the EPD and Marketing teams in a useful, actionable way

Who You Are

  • You can write code and build working demos independently — you don’t need an engineer to build the thing you’re explaining

  • You have a proven track record of producing technical content at scale: tutorials, videos, or livestreams that drove real developer awareness or adoption

  • You communicate clearly and credibly in writing, on camera, and in front of a live audience

  • You’re genuinely curious about how things work — especially in voice AI and real-time infrastructure — and that curiosity comes through in your work

  • You’re self-directed and organized; you thrive when given creative freedom, not a content calendar handed down from above

Nice to Have

  • Experience with WebRTC, real-time media, or audio/video infrastructure (you know what a STUN server is and you have opinions about it)

  • Voice AI or conversational AI background — you’ve built something with LLMs, TTS, or STT and learned things the hard way

  • Active open source contributor — you have a GitHub profile you’re proud of

  • Experience running live coding sessions, workshops, or hackathons where things don’t go perfectly and you handled it gracefully

  • In those school group projects, you did most of the work (:sigh:)

Our Commitment to You

  • An opportunity to build something truly impactful to the world

  • Contribute to open source alongside world-class engineers

  • Competitive salary and equity package

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits

  • Flexible vacation policy

  • 👋 Please mention that you come from Real Work From Anywhere when applying for this job. This helps us bring you more jobs.
