We’re hiring an engineer who’s interested in designing and building the backend tech that powers the VRChat experience. As a Senior Engineer you’ll be joining a full-stack team of engineers as an expert in cloud application development. Help us build the services and experiences that empower our users to build meaningful connections in the VRChat universe. Responsibilities
Work within a full-stack team of Engineers to develop scalable backend services and data pipelines essential for data-driven features that help people find great content, groups, and events in VRChatArchitect, own, design, implement, and maintain systems involving REST and WebSocket APIs, data modeling, caching systems, queueing systems, cloud orchestration, content discovery, social graphs, and moreWork with cross-functional collaborators to ensure technical excellence in service of meaningful user experiencesBe available to occasionally jump into action to solve an outage, even at inconvenient times,Preferred Skills and Experience
Five or more years of experience iteratively developing and designing scalable and modular backends and infrastructure for SaaS products, online games, or similar systemsExperience with recommendation systemsExperience building scalable new software systems from scratch and integrating them within an existing, evolving architectureExperience with using cloud providers at scale, such as AWS or Google CloudAble to work in a variety of languages and technologies, specifically backend JavaScript, Mongo, RedisExperience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) for processing and analyzing large datasetsProficiency in database optimization for analytical queries and real-time data access to power recommendation systemsStrong collaboration and communication skills,Bonus Points
Demonstrated interest in online communities, VR, or VRChat (as a user or creator).
