  • known as the go-to person for tackling tough problems

  • a hard worker and can build and ship fast

  • focused on polish, detail and quality

  • a fast learner, frequently picking up new tips, tricks, and skills.

The best way to impress us is by building something with LiveKit or contributing to the project.

About This Role:

We’re hiring an IT Manager—a systems thinker, operational leader, and hands-on technologist—to shape and scale our IT infrastructure in support of a rapidly growing, distributed team. You’ll own the strategic vision and daily execution for internal technology, with a focus on enabling secure, efficient, and scalable operations across the organization.

You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, security compliance, people, and leadership to design systems that meet our evolving needs—balancing usability, cost-efficiency, and compliance. If you're excited by high-impact work, modern tooling, and empowering fast-moving teams, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute the internal IT strategy, aligning infrastructure decisions with long-term business goals, compliance requirements, and security best practices.

  • Own and optimize the full stack of internal IT systems, from identity and access management (IAM) to device management, SaaS tooling, collaboration platforms, and networking.

  • Partner with Security Compliance in the implementation of modern IT policies and controls, ensuring secure and scalable practices around onboarding, offboarding, privileged access, software procurement, and asset lifecycle management.

  • Serve as the primary architect and operator of internal IT services, managing integrations across systems such as Google Workspace, Okta, MDM, and other critical tools.

  • Build automation and workflows to reduce manual overhead and improve team productivity, leveraging APIs, scripting, and modern low-code/no-code platforms where appropriate.

  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to enforce and monitor technical controls, respond to audits, and implement frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.

  • Establish IT metrics and reporting to track performance, identify trends, and drive proactive improvements.

  • Manage IT vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation, performance reviews, and SLA enforcement.

We’re Looking For Someone Who

  • Has deep experience in modern IT operations, including IAM, MDM, SSO, endpoint security, and SaaS stack management in cloud-native environments.

  • Has led or built IT functions in fast-paced, scaling startups—ideally from early stage through periods of rapid headcount and infrastructure growth.

  • Can move seamlessly between high-level IT strategy and low-level implementation, including scripting, automation, and tool configuration.

  • Understands the critical role of security and compliance in internal infrastructure and can partner with security teams to implement policies without compromising productivity.

  • Brings a strong bias for automation, process design, and root-cause analysis, always seeking to eliminate toil and reduce tech debt.

  • Has excellent communication skills, especially when working with non-technical teams, supporting remote employees, and managing vendor relationships.

Bonus Points

  • Experience managing IT in remote-first or hybrid work environments

  • Hands-on experience with Zero Trust architecture and secure device provisioning

  • Familiarity with frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or GDPR

  • Background in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell

  • Experience in a DevOps or SRE-adjacent role, bridging IT and engineering environments

Our Commitments to You

We offer

  • An opportunity to build something truly impactful to the world

  • Contribute to open source alongside world-class engineers

  • Competitive salary and equity package

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits

  • Flexible vacation policy
